Where to Stay for the LACMA Art+Film Gala
Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Bel Air or a villa in the hills: four ways of choosing an address around a museum on Wilshire Boulevard.
Last updated 5 October 2026 · 4 min read
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art stands on Wilshire Boulevard, in the Miracle Mile neighbourhood. For a stay around the LACMA Art+Film Gala, three neighbourhoods offer practical addresses: Beverly Hills, a few miles west along Wilshire Boulevard — The Beverly Hills Hotel, the Beverly Wilshire, The Peninsula Beverly Hills, named by way of illustration; West Hollywood, just to the north, for the life of the evening, with the Sunset Tower Hotel or The West Hollywood EDITION; Bel Air, with the Hotel Bel-Air, for the calm of a canyon. The alternative is a staffed villa in the hills, for receiving guests. Every stay is quoted individually.
Staying near the museum, or near its evening life
Miracle Mile is a neighbourhood of museums and offices, not of grand hotels. The right address therefore lies a little further away: to the west, Beverly Hills; to the north, West Hollywood; higher up, the hills of Bel Air. All are a few miles from the campus, and distance matters less than the hour: in Los Angeles, a short journey can take a long time.
A good address is chosen for the use you will make of it — sleeping, receiving, preparing your looks — and for the hour at which you will return. The table below summarises the four approaches.
| Neighbourhood | Example addresses (by way of illustration) | For whom | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beverly Hills | The Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Wilshire, The Peninsula Beverly Hills, Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills | Those who want the centre of gravity of the stay, Rodeo Drive on foot | The museum a few miles away along Wilshire Boulevard |
| West Hollywood | Sunset Tower Hotel, The West Hollywood EDITION, Chateau Marmont | Those who live by night, on Sunset Boulevard | Lively neighbourhood, heavy traffic on party nights |
| Bel Air | Hotel Bel-Air, private villas in the hills | Those seeking the calm of a canyon | A little further from the museum, far quieter |
| Staffed villa | Hills of Bel Air, Beverly Hills or Holmby Hills | Those receiving guests: families, groups, dinners | Minimum stay often required |

Beverly Hills: the centre of gravity
Beverly Hills is a simple address for a stay around the gala: Wilshire Boulevard leads straight to the museum, to the east, and Rodeo Drive is within walking distance. The Beverly Hills Hotel, on Sunset Boulevard, with its bungalows in the gardens; the Beverly Wilshire, facing Rodeo Drive; The Peninsula Beverly Hills and the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, where Wilshire meets Santa Monica Boulevard — named by way of illustration.
In early November, these houses remain in demand, and some suites go early. They are quoted individually according to the address, the category and the length of stay; when a particular suite is not available, we say so and propose a close equivalent.
West Hollywood: Sunset Boulevard and the life of the evening
West Hollywood, just north of the museum, is the neighbourhood of the evening: restaurants, hotel bars, terraces overlooking the city. The Sunset Tower Hotel and its Art Deco façade, the Chateau Marmont on its hill, The West Hollywood EDITION on the edge of Beverly Hills — named by way of illustration.
The advantage: the proximity of the weekend's dinners and parties. The trade-off: a livelier neighbourhood, and heavy traffic on Sunset Boulevard on party nights. For those who wish to go out after the evening, it is a good base.

Bel Air: the calm of a canyon
Bel Air is the address of retreat. The Hotel Bel-Air, on Stone Canyon Road, sets its rooms and suites within gardens, away from Sunset Boulevard; one sleeps in calm, and reaches Beverly Hills in a few minutes by car, outside rush hour. The museum is a little further — a journey the chauffeur times to the evening's arrival hour.
The staffed villa: receiving guests
For a family, a group or a host who has taken a table through the museum and is receiving guests, a private villa is often the right answer: bedrooms for everyone, salons for fittings, a terrace for a dinner the evening before or the day after. We compose it with its staff — house manager, chef, service, security.
The fine villas in the hills often require a minimum stay. They are quoted individually according to capacity, neighbourhood, length of stay and services; we check every property before proposing it to you.

When to book, and how we proceed
The evening takes place on Saturday, November 7, 2026: a few weeks before the date, well-placed suites become scarce. We advise settling the address as soon as your dates take shape; later on, the stay is composed with what remains, and we tell you so frankly. We book with the hotels like any client: TGZ is affiliated with none of them.
The quote depends on the address, the category, the length of stay and the timing of the booking. It includes no seat at the evening. For the journeys, our guide How to Get Around Los Angeles for the LACMA Art+Film Gala completes this choice.
