Getting Around Los Angeles During the Academy Museum Gala

A city crossed by car, a museum on Wilshire Boulevard, a very busy Saturday evening: how the journeys work, from landing to the late-night return.

In short

Los Angeles is crossed by car, and gala weekend is no exception. From Paris, you arrive on a long-haul flight to LAX or a private flight to Van Nuys, a general aviation airport in the San Fernando Valley. On site, a dedicated chauffeur for the length of the stay is the simple solution: they know the rush hours, the approach to the museum on Wilshire Boulevard and the fallback routes. The Metro now serves the museum: the Wilshire/Fairfax station on the D Line opened on 8 May 2026. On gala night, the area around the museum is very busy; we set the timing and route of your journeys accordingly.

01

Arriving: LAX or Van Nuys

From Paris, two routes. A long-haul flight to LAX, Los Angeles International Airport, in the south-west of the city: we arrange the welcome, the passage through the airport and the chauffeur waiting at the exit. Or a private flight to Van Nuys, a general aviation airport opened in 1928 in the San Fernando Valley, north of the hills: arrival there is more discreet, and Beverly Hills is reached by the road through the hills.

With a nine-hour time difference, the arrival time matters. We advise arriving at least the day before the gala, and keeping the first evening calm.

Getting around: a dedicated chauffeur

The city is vast and distances are counted in time rather than kilometres. A dedicated chauffeur for the length of the stay settles the essentials: they wait for you outside each address, adapt the route to rush hour and remain available at night. For a group, a second car avoids waiting.

We prepare a schedule for each day, reviewed that same morning: departure times, addresses, fallback routes. All you need to do is step outside.

03

The museum: Wilshire Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue

The Academy Museum stands at 6067 Wilshire Boulevard, on the corner of Fairfax Avenue, on the Museum Row of Miracle Mile. From Beverly Hills, you reach it by following Wilshire Boulevard east; from West Hollywood, by heading south.

The Metro is a new option: the Wilshire/Fairfax station on the D Line, opened on 8 May 2026, serves the museum's neighbourhood. For a daytime visit, it is an alternative to the car; on gala night, we favour the chauffeur.

04

Gala night

On the Saturday of the gala, the museum is closed to the public and its surroundings receive the arriving guests. Traffic there is heavy in the early evening. If you are invited, we set the departure time for an arrival without waiting and plan the pick-up point with the chauffeur; any traffic restrictions are announced by the city, and we follow them.

If you are not, your evening takes place elsewhere — a dinner in Beverly Hills, a private evening in the hills — and we arrange it away from the boulevard.

05

Visiting the museum on another day

The museum opens Wednesday to Monday, from 10 am to 6 pm, and is closed on Tuesdays; advance booking is recommended. We arrange the visit at calm hours, with a chauffeur who drops you off and waits for you. Parking is in nearby garages; with a chauffeur, the question does not arise.
