How to Get to the Vienna Opera Ball?
Two hours' flight from Paris, twenty minutes to the Ring, a car waiting at dawn: arriving in Vienna and the journeys of the night, planned in advance.

For the Vienna Opera Ball, you arrive through Vienna International Airport, about nineteen kilometres south-east of the centre: about two hours' flight from Paris, by scheduled or private flight — business aviation is received in a dedicated terminal. From the airport, a chauffeur-driven car reaches the Ring in twenty minutes to half an hour depending on traffic. On the night of the ball, the car takes you to the Opera for the opening of the doors, at 8.15 pm, and returns at the agreed hour, up to the end of the ball at 5 am. In February, snow can delay a flight: we always allow a margin. Every journey is quoted individually.
Arriving at Vienna airport
Vienna International Airport is the city's gateway. It receives scheduled flights from the major cities of Europe — about two hours' flight from Paris — and business aviation, handled in a dedicated terminal, to the west of the airport, with its own lounge and its own apron.
From Paris, London or Geneva, a private flight fits your schedule: arrival the day before the ball for the fittings, or on the day itself for those who have everything in hand. We arrange the welcome, the luggage — a ball outfit travels separately, with care — and the onward journey without waiting.

From the airport to the Ring
The airport is about nineteen kilometres from the centre. By chauffeur-driven car, the Ring is reached in twenty minutes to half an hour depending on traffic; it is the option for plenty of luggage and garment bags. A train also links the airport to the city centre, but with a ball outfit, the car remains the simple solution.
The table below compares the options for arrival.
| Option | Indicative time | For whom | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scheduled flight from Paris | About 2 hours | A simple stay, little luggage | Fixed schedules; allow a margin in February |
| Private flight | About 2 hours from Paris | Free timing, a group, outfits in garment bags | Dedicated business aviation terminal; subject to aircraft and slot availability |
| Chauffeur-driven car, airport–Ring | 20 to 30 minutes | Everyone, and always with a ball outfit | Depending on traffic |
The night of the ball: getting there
The Opera's doors open at 8.15 pm; guests enter by the red carpet or by the other entrances. At around 9 pm, the red carpet is reserved for the arrival of the Federal President and the government: it is better to arrive before, or to enter by another door. The opening begins at 10 pm.
From the palaces on the Ring, the journey takes only a few minutes, but the approaches to the Opera are very busy that evening. We set the departure time and the drop-off point to avoid waiting in the cold; coats are left at the cloakroom on arrival.

The return, until dawn
The ball ends at 5 am; many leave earlier, after the midnight quadrille or the one at 2 am. The return is planned before the evening: the car waits, or comes back at the agreed hour, and we keep a margin should you decide to stay. The building has many exits; we agree on the meeting point in advance.
During the stay, and departure
Vienna's old town is easily explored on foot, but in February a chauffeur at your disposal makes the days simpler: an appointment at the tailor's, a waltz lesson, a late lunch the day after the ball. On the day of departure, we time the car to your flight, with a margin should the snow intervene.
