The Salzburg Festival 2027 runs from Friday 16 July to Sunday 29 August, in some twenty venues across the city, around the Festival District: opera, concerts and theatre. The programme appears at the end of the year; orders are submitted over a few winter weeks, all treated equally, then direct sales open in spring. Tickets are personalised and cannot be transferred without the festival's consent. There is no written dress code, but festive, elegant evening attire is wished for. You arrive via Salzburg airport, by train from Vienna or Munich, or by jet. TGZ Conciergerie prepares the order with you and composes the stay, without reselling any ticket.
The festival
Founded in 1920, the Salzburg Festival brings together opera, concerts and theatre every summer. The first performance was given on 22 August 1920, in the open air, on the square before the cathedral. In 2026 the festival gave 172 performances over 45 days, in 19 venues, before more than 261,000 visitors from 84 countries.
Its heart is the Festival District, at the foot of the Mönchsberg: the Grosses Festspielhaus, the Haus für Mozart and the Felsenreitschule, with its arcades cut into the rock. A short programme also takes place at Whitsun, from 14 to 17 May 2027.

Tickets and ordering
Tickets are bought from the festival, in the name of the person who will attend, on presentation of an ID. The winter order is the main route; spring direct sales complete it; for a sold-out evening, the festival itself puts returned tickets back on sale. Members of the Friends of the Salzburg Festival are served first.
TGZ resells no tickets and never buys them on a secondary market: we prepare the order with you, placed in your name. Our guide How to Attend the Salzburg Festival? sets out each route.
Stay and logistics
You stay in the old town or on the banks of the Salzach, within walking distance of the halls, or by a Salzkammergut lake, with a chauffeur. You arrive via Salzburg airport at the city's edge, by train from Vienna or Munich, or by jet.
Our guides Where to Stay for the Salzburg Festival? and How to Get to the Salzburg Festival? set out each option; What Is the Salzburg Festival Dress Code? covers the customs, evening by evening.

From the festival, in your name: through the winter order, the spring direct sales, or the resale of returned tickets for sold-out evenings. We prepare the order with you; we resell no tickets.
The ticket is personalised: it must bear the name of the person who will attend, and transfer is prohibited without the festival's prior consent. It is better to order directly in each guest's name.
No written rules; the festival wishes for festive, elegant evening attire. A dark suit or dinner jacket, an evening or cocktail dress; traditional dress is welcome; premieres are dressier.
The festival offers a youth programme with its own performances, and heavily discounted youth tickets for under-27s for a selection of evenings. We check with you what suits each age.
