In short

The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is an automotive concours d'elegance held every August on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, on the shore of Carmel Bay, in California. The 2027 edition takes place on Sunday 15 August. Some two hundred rare cars compete there by class, judged on their elegance, their technical merit and their history, from 8am until the awards presentation in the afternoon. The Concours closes an automotive week on the Monterey Peninsula, Car Week, which notably includes the Tour d'Elegance on Thursday 12 August. The organiser sells its own tickets — announced for late 2026 — and its hospitality packages. Everything else — accommodation, arrival, chauffeur — is composed around it, and booked early.

01

What is the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance?

The Concours was born in 1950, alongside the road races then held in the Del Monte Forest. At first it was merely a sideshow: a few cars on display by the bay. The races stopped in 1956 and moved to the Laguna Seca circuit; the Concours stayed on the fairway. It celebrated its 75th edition in 2026.

A concours d'elegance is not a race: the cars do not compete on speed, they are presented, examined and judged. At Pebble Beach, they are divided into classes — by era, by origin, by body style — then decided by class judges and chief judges, up to Best of Show, the award for the best car of the day. The Concours also has a charitable purpose: since 1950, its proceeds have supported charities, today more than one hundred and thirty in Monterey County, focused on children.

How the Sunday unfolds

The day begins before daybreak. From dawn, the cars take to the show field one by one — a moment many come to watch, coffee in hand. Spectators enter at 5.30am; judging begins at 8am; the awards presentation runs from 1.30pm to 5pm, the winners crossing the ramp in front of the public.

The timings below are those published by the organiser for the 2027 edition; we reconfirm them before your stay.

Car Week: a week around the Sunday

The Concours closes an entire week devoted to the automobile on the Monterey Peninsula, known as Car Week. The Concours organiser holds its own gatherings there: the Tour d'Elegance on Thursday 12 August, which takes the Concours cars out on the roads of the peninsula; the Concours Village and RetroAuto, free of charge, from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 August; the Classic Car Forum, by registration, from 12 to 14 August.

Other organisers fill the same week: historic races on the Laguna Seca circuit, invitation-only or ticketed gatherings at golf clubs on the peninsula, exhibitions by country of origin, auctions. Our guide Pebble Beach Concours: The Car Week Programme helps you choose.

04

Tickets and hospitality

The organiser sells its own general admission tickets — the show field, the judging, the Concours Village, the exhibits, the awards presentation, with parking and the shuttle within Pebble Beach — and its hospitality packages, from the Club d'Elegance, at the Parc du Concours, to the spaces beside the show field. Tickets for 2027 are announced for late 2026.

We resell no tickets: we source tickets and hospitality on request, origin and conditions confirmed. Entering a car, for its part, goes through an application submitted to the organiser: we play no part in it. Our guide How to Attend the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance? compares each route.

05

Preparing your stay: accommodation, arrival, attire, budget

Accommodation first: in Pebble Beach itself, at The Lodge, at Casa Palmero or at The Inn at Spanish Bay; in Carmel-by-the-Sea; in Monterey; or in a villa on the peninsula. Then arrival: by jet to Monterey Regional Airport, some fifteen minutes away; by scheduled flight to San José or San Francisco, then the road with a chauffeur. Our guides Where to Stay for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance? and How to Get to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance? compare each option.

Finally, attire: mornings are cool by the bay, the sun is warm at midday; the organiser recommends layers and comfortable shoes, and encourages a polished appearance. The budget is composed item by item and prepared on quotation: we explain what makes it vary rather than publishing a rate card.
