Oscars Week and After-Parties: How Do They Really Work?

Nominative invitations, checked lists, no ticketing: how the week's parties really work, and what can honestly be composed alongside them.

Last updated 5 October 2026 · 4 min read

In short

The parties of Oscars week are private events: the Governors Ball, the Academy's reception following the ceremony, and the parties hosted by studios, agencies, magazines and brands all work by nominative invitation, with lists checked at the door. They are not sold, and an invitation cannot be transferred. TGZ Conciergerie sells no invitation and promises no access. What we arrange alongside is real: a table on the night of the ceremony, a private dinner, an evening we create for you in a villa or a hotel salon, with the chauffeur and security that go with it.

01

The week's parties, one by one

Oscars week layers several circles on top of one another. The Academy holds its own gatherings, including the Governors Ball, the reception that immediately follows the ceremony, in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Ovation Hollywood. Studios and distributors entertain around their nominated films. Talent agencies give their dinners. Magazines and brands host the parties that are talked about the next day.

All have one thing in common: they are private events. You attend because you have been invited, by name, by the host. The table below summarises what exists and what it really means for a private visitor.

02

How an invitation works

An invitation for the week is nominative: it is issued by the organiser in your name, often for a specific time, and checked at the door against identification. It cannot be transferred; a companion, when permitted, is declared as well. Lists close late, change until the final day, and cannot be negotiated from the outside.

This is why an invitation "for sale" should give you pause: either it is an evening unrelated to the industry's parties, presented ambiguously, or it is an invitation in someone else's name, refused at the door. A successful week is not built on that risk.

03

What TGZ does not do

We sell no seat for the ceremony, no invitation to the Governors Ball, no entry to any of the week's parties. We do not claim to obtain them, and we do not charge for "access". If you have already been invited, we arrange everything else around it; if you have not, we tell you frankly, and we compose something else.

This line is not a formality. It protects our clients from disappointment at the door, and it protects the trust on which our work rests.

04

What TGZ arranges alongside

On the night of the ceremony: a table held for you, in a restaurant or a private room, or a dinner served by a chef in your villa, with the live broadcast for those who wish. Many of our clients prefer that evening, among those close to them, to a queue on a closed pavement.

On the other nights: an evening we create for you — a villa in the hills of Bel Air or Beverly Hills taken privately, a hotel salon in West Hollywood, a dinner followed by a private screening —, with artistic direction, chef, music, discreet security and a confidentiality undertaking from the staff. You host; we absorb everything else.

And if you are invited to one of the week's parties, we orchestrate what surrounds it: the outfit and fittings, hair timed to your departure, the chauffeur who knows the entrances, the table beforehand and the journey home at night.

05

The logistics of party nights

The week's parties are spread between Hollywood, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, often at residential addresses where parking is impossible and discretion matters. On the night of the ceremony, the streets around the Dolby Theatre are closed, and entry to nearby parties is through designated drop-off points.

A dedicated chauffeur, a route reviewed on the day against the published closures, planned waiting time and a back-up vehicle take care of the essentials. Close protection is sized to the programme and to the pieces you are wearing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. The Governors Ball is the Academy's reception following the ceremony, by invitation. There is no way to buy entry, and we sell none.

By being invited by the host: a studio, an agency, a magazine, a brand. These invitations go to the industry and to those close to the organisers; they are nominative and non-transferable. No serious concierge can promise you one.

Be wary of anyone who promises it. Lists are nominative and checked at the door. TGZ Conciergerie sells no access: we arrange the stay, the tables and the private evenings we create for you.

A great deal: a table held in a restaurant or private room, a dinner with a chef in your villa, the live broadcast among friends, an evening we create for you afterwards. The night of the ceremony does not belong to the auditorium alone.

Yes, and it is what we enjoy doing above all: a villa taken privately, a hotel salon, a dinner followed by a private screening, artistic direction, chef, security, confidentiality. The finer villas and salons go early during the week; each evening is quoted on request.

Everything that surrounds it: the outfit and fittings, hair and make-up timed to your departure, the chauffeur and the route according to the closures, the table beforehand, the journey home at night, security if needed.

No. TGZ Conciergerie is an independent house, with no affiliation whatsoever with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences or with the organisers of the week's parties. We sell neither seats nor invitations.
