Where to Stay for the Bal de la Rose?

Place du Casino, Port Hercule, Carré d'Or, the Riviera: the addresses that matter around the Sporting, compared for a March weekend in Monaco.

Last updated 5 October 2026 · 4 min read

In short

For a weekend around the Bal de la Rose, the natural addresses are in Monte-Carlo, a few minutes by car from the Sporting, where the evening is held. The Hôtel de Paris, on the Place du Casino since 1864 and renovated in 2019, is home to Le Louis XV; the Hôtel Hermitage, a Belle Époque palace above the harbour, has its domed winter garden and Pavyllon; the Hôtel Métropole, a house dating from 1889 with interiors by Jacques Garcia, is home to Les Ambassadeurs. A staffed villa on the Riviera suits a group. On the weekend of the ball, the finer rooms are booked early; every stay is quoted individually.

01

Why stay in Monte-Carlo

The Sporting Monte-Carlo stands on avenue Princesse-Grace, in the Larvotto district, by the sea. The grand houses of Monte-Carlo are a few minutes away by car: you get ready without haste, leave as the doors open, and return without a long journey.

There is a weekend reason too. Staying in Monte-Carlo puts the Place du Casino, the harbour and the Rock within walking distance on Friday and Sunday, and the Principality's great tables in your own hotel. The addresses below are named by way of illustration: we book with them as any client would.

02

The Hôtel de Paris: the Place du Casino

The Hôtel de Paris opened in 1864, facing the Casino. It reopened in 2019 after more than four years of works, which reconceived the rooms and suites while keeping the façade on the square and the marble hall. It is home to Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse, three stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide, and Le Grill, one star, as well as a cellar carved into the rock in 1874; guests have access to the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo.

It is the address for those who want the heart of Monte-Carlo and a dinner without a car on Friday evening. We request the category and outlook you prefer — square side, sea side — according to the hotel's availability, without promising a specific room.

03

The Hôtel Hermitage: above the harbour

The Hôtel Hermitage was built between 1890 and 1896 by the architect Jean Marquet, in the Belle Époque style, on the heights overlooking Port Hercule. Its winter garden is crowned with a glass and metal dome on which Gustave Eiffel worked. The hotel is connected to the Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo and is home to Pavyllon, Yannick Alléno's table, one star in the 2026 Michelin Guide, with its terrace over the sea.

It is the address for those who want a view of the harbour and the Rock, and a spa a lift ride from the room on the morning of the ball. Rooms are divided between harbour views and city views: we request the outlook you prefer.

04

The Hôtel Métropole: the Carré d'Or

The Hôtel Métropole was built in 1889, a few steps from the Casino, behind a Belle Époque façade. Jacques Garcia designed its interiors in tones of bronze, ivory and gold. The house has a spa of around 2,000 m² and a heated seawater pool; its gastronomic restaurant, Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac, holds two stars in the 2026 Michelin Guide and opens only in the evening, from Thursday to Monday.

More intimate than the grand houses on the square, it is the address for a calm stay, with dinner at Les Ambassadeurs on Friday evening. We book the room or suite you wish according to availability, and coordinate the table and the treatments.

05

A villa on the Riviera: receiving guests

For a group, a family or a stay built around receiving, a staffed villa on the Riviera offers what a hotel does not: a drawing room for an after-ball dinner, a room for fittings, the discretion of an address that is not public. The journey to the Sporting is planned with a chauffeur. A minimum number of nights is often required; we verify each property before proposing it.

When to book, and how we proceed

On the weekend of the ball, Monte-Carlo is in high demand. We advise settling the hotel as soon as your plans take shape, adjusting if need be once the organiser publishes the 2027 date, under verified cancellation terms. We book with hotels as any client would: TGZ is affiliated with none of them.

The quote depends on the address, the room category, the length of stay and the timing of the booking. It includes no place at the ball. For the rest of the weekend — tables, helicopter, chauffeur, stylist — our Bal de la Rose VIP page composes the whole, and our guide How to Get to the Bal de la Rose details the arrival.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The grand houses of Monte-Carlo — Hôtel de Paris, Hôtel Hermitage, Hôtel Métropole — are all a few minutes by car from the Sporting, on avenue Princesse-Grace. The choice depends more on how you wish to spend the rest of the weekend than on distance.

It is not essential. Monte-Carlo simplifies the evening and puts the weekend within walking distance; a villa on the Riviera suits a group or those who wish to receive, with a chauffeur for the evening journey. We choose according to your programme.

As soon as your plans take shape. The 2027 date has not yet been published, but the ball takes place on a Saturday in March: we can commit to the hotel early and adjust afterwards, according to each house's terms.

Often, yes, depending on availability and each house's rules. Friday evening lends itself well; Les Ambassadeurs opens only in the evening, from Thursday to Monday. We request the table early and tell you frankly when it is not possible.

Yes: a staffed villa on the Riviera suits a group or a stay built around receiving. A minimum number of nights is often required; we verify each property and its terms before proposing it to you, on a tailored quote.

No. No room gives access to the evening: places are offered by the organiser, in the guest's name and in limited number. Staying in Monte-Carlo simply makes the weekend easier.
