The Festival of Speed is held in the park of Goodwood House, at the foot of the South Downs, a few kilometres from Chichester. The West Sussex countryside and Chichester

The train links London to Chichester in around an hour and a half — from Waterloo with a change at Havant, or directly from Victoria — then a shuttle runs to the festival entrance. By car with a chauffeur, allow longer on busy days.
A helicopter from London to Goodwood Aerodrome shortens the journey considerably, subject to permission and the day's slots. The hotels of Mayfair or Knightsbridge then let you leave after breakfast and dine in town in the evening.
Criteria, minimum stays and timing: how to decide
Three criteria decide. The number of days, first: for a single day, London and the helicopter are enough; for two or four, the estate or the countryside spare you the round trips.
