Where should you stay for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix?
On the circuit's island, on the beach at Saadiyat or in the heart of the city: three ways to live the weekend, and what each one changes.

For the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, three bases stand out. Yas Island, the circuit's island, for proximity: the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island hotel spans the track, and other addresses are a few minutes away. Saadiyat, the neighbouring island, for the beach, calm and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a short drive from the circuit. Downtown and Al Maryah Island for the city's grand hotels, further from the circuit but in the heart of Abu Dhabi. Over race weekend, minimum stays are common and sought-after rooms go months in advance. The hotels mentioned are cited for illustration; TGZ books subject to availability, on quotation.
Three bases, three different weekends
The choice of hotel decides the shape of the weekend. Staying on Yas Island means living to the rhythm of the circuit: you get there on foot or in a few minutes, and return between sessions. Staying on Saadiyat means keeping a beach and some calm for yourself, and coming to the circuit only for what matters. Staying in the city means making the Grand Prix one moment in a wider stay in Abu Dhabi.
One shared constraint: traffic builds around Yas Island at the times people enter and leave the circuit, especially on Sunday evening. A chauffeur who knows the access points counts for more than a few kilometres either way.
| Area | Strength | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Yas Island | Proximity to the circuit, the marina, Yas Bay | Heavy activity and traffic on race days |
| Saadiyat | Beaches, calm, Louvre Abu Dhabi | Road journey to the circuit, to be planned around exit times |
| Downtown & Al Maryah | Grand hotels, the city within reach | Further from the circuit; chauffeur recommended |
| Villa or private residence | Hosting in complete discretion | Limited supply, minimum stays common |

Yas Island: sleeping at the edge of the track
The address the island is known for is the W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, the former Yas Hotel opened in 2009: its two buildings are linked by a bridge that spans the track, beneath a shell of glass and steel that lights up at night. During the Grand Prix, some rooms overlook the circuit; they go very early and are often booked with a minimum number of nights.
Other Yas Island hotels — around Yas Bay, the marina or the golf course, cited for illustration — are a few minutes from the circuit. For a family, the island also offers its theme parks and beaches; for a group, its proximity simplifies everything. We compare for you the view, the access to the circuit and the calm of each address.
Saadiyat: the beach and the calm
Saadiyat is the island of beaches and culture: the Louvre Abu Dhabi opened there in 2017, and the seafront hotels — The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi or the Jumeirah Saadiyat Island, cited for illustration — line up private beaches and villas. It is the choice of those who want to live the race, then step away from it.
The journey to the circuit is by road; it is timed around entry and exit times. A dedicated chauffeur makes these comings and goings invisible, and the boat can sometimes take over from the marina. Our guide How do you get to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix? details these journeys.

Downtown and Al Maryah: the city within reach
In the city, Abu Dhabi's grand hotels — Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental on the corniche, the Four Seasons or the Rosewood on Al Maryah Island, cited for illustration — make the Grand Prix one moment in a wider stay: the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Qasr Al Watan presidential palace, the city's restaurants.
The circuit is further away, and leaving on Sunday evening calls for a chauffeur who knows the route. For a stay of several days before or after the race, it is often a sensible compromise.
Booking: what makes the difference
Over Grand Prix weekend, demand in Abu Dhabi is high, and higher still on Yas Island. Rooms overlooking the track, suites and villas go months in advance; minimum stays are common. The quotation turns on the address, the category of room or suite, the length of stay and when you book.
We book the hotel according to your seat: a hospitality suite calls for an address on the island, a yacht in the marina lets you stay further away, a holiday week around the race calls for Saadiyat. Our Abu Dhabi Grand Prix VIP page composes the whole.
