The Plaza Athénée opened on 20 April 1913 at 25 Avenue Montaigne. Its red geraniums and matching awnings set the tone; on the upper floors, rooms and suites on the avenue side look towards the Eiffel Tower. The hotel now belongs to the Dorchester Collection.
The decor changes by floor: classic and Regency below, a reworked Art Deco at the top. In the kitchens, Jean Imbert runs the hotel's dining, including the fine-dining restaurant, one star in the 2026 Michelin Guide, and Le Relais Plaza, a brasserie of regulars since the 1930s.
