How to Get Around Los Angeles During Oscars Week?
Arriving via LAX or Van Nuys, moving between Beverly Hills and Hollywood, working around the closures: how a week where everything is done by car really works.

In Los Angeles, everything is done by car, and Oscars week complicates the journeys. To arrive: a long-haul flight into LAX, the international airport, or a private jet into Van Nuys, a general aviation airport in the San Fernando Valley, north of Beverly Hills. Once there, a dedicated chauffeur for the length of your stay is the safe answer. Around the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood Boulevard is closed to traffic several days before the ceremony — in 2026, between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue from 5 to 18 March — and the neighbouring streets at the weekend; the 2027 plan will be published as the date approaches. An itinerary reviewed each morning, known drop-off points and a back-up vehicle take care of the essentials.
Arriving in Los Angeles: LAX or Van Nuys
There are two gateways for a stay during Oscars week. LAX, Los Angeles International Airport, to the south-west of the city, receives direct long-haul flights from Europe; a meet-and-greet at the aircraft door and a chauffeur at the terminal spare you much of the waiting. Depending on the hour, the drive to Beverly Hills can be short or very long: we time your arrival accordingly.
Van Nuys, in the San Fernando Valley, is a general aviation airport opened in 1928 and much used by business aviation: you arrive by private jet, pass through a private terminal, and reach Bel Air or Beverly Hills over the hills. Hollywood Burbank, further east, is another option for those staying near Hollywood.
| Gateway | For whom | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| LAX (Los Angeles International) | Direct long-haul flights from Europe | Meet-and-greet and chauffeur at the terminal; drive to Beverly Hills varies greatly with the hour |
| Van Nuys (VNY) | Private jet | General aviation airport in the San Fernando Valley; private terminal, quick access to Bel Air and Beverly Hills |
| Hollywood Burbank (BUR) | Domestic flights, private aviation | Closer to Hollywood; convenient for a stay on the eastern side |

The dedicated chauffeur: the condition of the week
Los Angeles is not a city where you improvise your journeys. Distances are long, rush hours unpredictable, and during Oscars week the evenings follow one another between Hollywood, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. A dedicated chauffeur, reserved for the length of your stay, with a vehicle suited to the number of passengers and to your outfits, takes care of the essentials.
They follow a timed itinerary, reviewed each morning: times, drop-off points, waiting, late-night returns. For a group or a busy day, a second vehicle prevents one delay from spreading to the next. In the evening, the chauffeur waits nearby rather than leaving; in Los Angeles, finding a car at the end of a party often takes longer than the journey itself.
The Hollywood closures: what you should know
To install the red carpet, the stands and the security perimeter, the city closes Hollywood Boulevard around the Dolby Theatre several days before the ceremony. In 2026, the closure ran between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue from Thursday 5 to Wednesday 18 March, and other neighbouring streets closed at the weekend; Metro's B Line skipped the Hollywood/Highland station for some thirty hours.
The 2027 plan has not yet been published: the Academy and the city release it as the ceremony approaches. We follow it, and your itinerary adapts day by day. In practice: avoiding Hollywood during set-up hours, using Sunset Boulevard or Franklin Avenue, and knowing the drop-off points for nearby parties.

The Sunday of the ceremony
On the Sunday, Hollywood is closed to cars without designated access. If you are invited to the ceremony, the Academy sends its guests the arrival arrangements; your chauffeur follows them. If you are not — as is the case for nearly all of our clients —, the evening is enjoyed elsewhere, and it is wise to stay away from Hollywood: Beverly Hills, Bel Air and West Hollywood remain accessible.
The parties that follow the ceremony begin late and are spread between Hollywood and Beverly Hills: traffic remains heavy until late in the night. Your chauffeur plans the journeys home, and a back-up vehicle is positioned if your programme requires it.
Helicopter, jet and escapes
A week in Los Angeles often leaves a day to leave the city: Malibu along the Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Barbara or the vineyards of the Central Coast, a round trip to Palm Springs in the desert. Depending on the distance, car, helicopter or a short-haul jet are all suitable; we compose the escape according to the weather and your programme, on quotation.

Security and discretion
Oscars week draws photographers and onlookers around the hotels and parties. For those wearing valuable pieces or who value their discretion, close protection is coordinated with the chauffeur: arrivals through service entrances when possible, waiting out of view, journeys home without detour. The arrangement is sized on quotation according to the programme.
Frequently asked questions
LAX for a direct long-haul flight from Europe; Van Nuys for a private jet, with a private terminal and quick access to Bel Air and Beverly Hills; Hollywood Burbank if you are staying on the Hollywood side.
Yes. Van Nuys is a general aviation airport in the San Fernando Valley, much used by business aviation. We arrange the flight, the welcome at the private terminal and the chauffeur, on quotation according to the point of departure and the aircraft.
Hollywood Boulevard around the Dolby Theatre, several days before the ceremony, and neighbouring streets at the weekend. In 2026, the closure covered Hollywood Boulevard between Orange Drive and Highland Avenue from 5 to 18 March. The 2027 plan will be published as the date approaches; we follow it for you.
During Oscars week, it is the safe solution: long distances, heavy traffic, closures, evenings that end late. A dedicated chauffeur for the length of your stay, with an itinerary reviewed each morning, avoids the great majority of setbacks.
The B Line's Hollywood/Highland station serves Ovation Hollywood, but it may be closed or skipped around the ceremony — in 2026, for some thirty hours at the weekend. For a private stay, the chauffeur remains the answer.
It all depends on the hour and the closures: a few minutes off-peak, much longer on an evening of Oscars week. This is why we time each departure to the actual schedule and allow a margin.
