New York Fashion Week FAQ: every question, answered
Invitations, dates, budget, accommodation, logistics, style: the candid answers that prepare a week in New York.

New York Fashion Week is organised by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), which owns its calendar; the next edition takes place in February 2027, for the autumn-winter 2027 collections, its exact dates not yet published, with shows scattered across Manhattan. The shows are professional events by invitation only: invitations are nominative, non-transferable and cannot be bought — any "show ticket" offered for sale should raise suspicion. A VIP stay is composed around the week — grand hotel suite, chauffeur, styling, tables, evenings — with requests for access transmitted through private relationships, never promised. TGZ Conciergerie, an independent house with no affiliation to the CFDA, orchestrates the whole on a bespoke-quotation basis.
The short version
New York Fashion Week began in 1943 as a "Press Week" created by the publicist Eleanor Lambert, when the war kept the industry from the Paris shows. Today it is organised by the CFDA, its sole organiser since October 2014. An edition lasts about six days, gathers more than sixty runway shows and presentations on the CFDA's preliminary schedule, and unfolds across Manhattan — lofts, galleries, studios, by way of illustration — with no single venue. The precise calendar is published a few weeks before each edition.
For the full picture — how it works, how to prepare, how to stay — our Complete guide to New York Fashion Week remains the starting point, and our guide to the New York Fashion Week schedule details how an edition unfolds hour by hour; this FAQ condenses the essential answers.
Transparency first: TGZ Conciergerie is an independent house, with no affiliation to the CFDA, to any fashion house or brand, or to the organisers of New York Fashion Week shows and events, and no official status of any kind. Every stay is established by personalised quotation, with conditions confirmed before any commitment.

Access & invitations
It is the point every first enquiry raises, and it deserves a straight answer: the shows are professional events by invitation only — press, buyers, clients, guests. There is no public box office, invitations are nominative and non-transferable, and they cannot be bought: any "show ticket" offered for sale deserves suspicion. In recent seasons, the CFDA has let the public watch shows on screen at Rockefeller Center.
Requests can sometimes be transmitted through legitimate private channels — designers, relationships — after review of the client's profile, always subject to availability and with no promise whatsoever. We say it with the same candour in both directions: what is achievable, and what is not. Our guide How to attend New York Fashion Week and our page devoted to runway shows and invitations set out those routes one by one.
Dates & editions
New York fashion lives to a twice-yearly rhythm: February for the autumn-winter collections, September for spring-summer. The next edition, devoted to the autumn-winter 2027 collections, takes place in February 2027; the most recent ran from Thursday 10 to Tuesday 15 September 2026, and the last February one from 11 to 16 February 2026.
The calendar, with the running order, is published by the CFDA a few weeks before opening and still moves afterwards; some venues are confirmed only to invited guests. A stay is therefore built in two stages: the foundations far in advance, the highlights once the calendar lands.

Budget
During the week, Manhattan's grand hotels fill early. Every line is set by personalised quotation and varies with simple criteria: the address, category and number of nights for a hotel suite; capacity and length of stay for a privatised penthouse, loft or townhouse; the number of days and hours covered for a dedicated chauffeur, and for a second car in relay; profile and number of days for a personal shopper or stylist; the number of agents and hours for close protection.
No budget, however large, buys an invitation to a show — that is the boundary any honest adviser should state from the outset. Our guide How much does a VIP New York Fashion Week cost breaks down all of these line items, with typical scenarios to support them.
Accommodation & logistics
The stay is played out on the map: five areas structure the week — Midtown and Fifth Avenue, the Upper East Side, SoHo and Tribeca, the Meatpacking District and Chelsea, NoHo and Nolita — each with its own vocation, compared in our guide to the neighbourhoods of New York Fashion Week and our guide Where to stay for New York Fashion Week. Grand hotel suites fill early for the week.
As for journeys: private aviation lands at Teterboro, in New Jersey, about 19 km (12 miles) north-north-west of Midtown — commercial flights arrive at JFK and Newark Liberty — and helicopter transfers reach the Manhattan heliports on request. On the ground, the dedicated chauffeur is the baseline, with a second car in relay on the dense days. Our guide How to get around during New York Fashion Week details these trade-offs.

Style & programme
There is no written dress code, but powerful unwritten ones: quiet luxury by day, pieces from the designer who invites you where relevant, the evening register for dinners, the invitation's code for parties, a coat that belongs to the look in February — our guide devoted to the New York Fashion Week dress code decodes them, and our Personal shopping during New York Fashion Week page organises the wardrobe and itineraries.
The rest of the week is composed like a score: tables booked weeks in advance — see our Fashion Week restaurants guide —, private chef dinners, parties and after-parties by invitation, requested where possible and never promised. A single point of contact holds the whole together, and adjusts it in real time all week long.
The essentials
The next New York Fashion Week takes place in February 2027, for the autumn-winter 2027 collections, organised by the CFDA, with more than sixty shows and presentations at the last February edition, scattered across Manhattan. The shows are by nominative, non-transferable invitation: nothing there can be bought, and any promise to the contrary is a red flag. A VIP stay is set by personalised quotation, according to the length of stay, the accommodation — grand hotel suite or penthouse with a full team — and the density of the programme. The foundations book out months in advance; the highlights are set when the calendar is published. TGZ Conciergerie, an independent house with no ties to the CFDA or the houses, orchestrates the whole with candour about what is possible.
Frequently asked questions
The next edition, devoted to the autumn-winter 2027 collections, takes place in February 2027; the CFDA has not yet published its exact dates and will do so a few weeks before. The rhythm is twice a year: February for autumn-winter, September for spring-summer. The most recent edition ran from Thursday 10 to Tuesday 15 September 2026.
No. The shows are professional events by invitation only, with no public box office. Invitations are nominative, non-transferable and issued by the designers: they are not for sale. Any "show ticket" or "confirmed seat" offered for sale should raise the greatest suspicion — it is the most reliable signal of an illegitimate offer.
Invitations are issued by the designers and brands for the press, buyers, their clients and their guests. For a private client, a request can sometimes be transmitted through legitimate private channels — relationships with designers — after review of the client's profile, always subject to availability and with no promise whatsoever. A genuine client relationship remains the most natural route; our guide How to attend New York Fashion Week covers every avenue candidly.
No — and you should be wary of anyone who claims otherwise. Invitations are nominative, non-transferable, and rest solely on the designers' decision. A serious concierge house transmits requests where possible, speaks of access "subject to availability, subject to validation", and tells you clearly when the route is closed — while proposing real alternatives: presentations, showrooms, private events.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America owns and organises the Fashion Calendar and the New York Fashion Week schedule — its sole organiser since October 2014 — with a formal application process for designers. The calendar is published a few weeks before each edition. TGZ Conciergerie is an independent house, with no affiliation to the CFDA and no official status of any kind.
It is quoted on request, because it is composed: a grand hotel suite or a privatised penthouse, loft or townhouse, a dedicated chauffeur, a stylist or personal shopper, close protection, the crossing itself. What moves the cost: the length of stay, the address, the number of days for each service, the size of the party and the timing of the booking. Our budget guide breaks down each line item.
In the neighbourhood that matches your programme: Midtown and Fifth Avenue for immersion — Aman New York, The Plaza, by way of illustration —, the Upper East Side for Madison Avenue and private appointments — The Carlyle —, downtown for evenings and discretion — Casa Cipriani in the Financial District. Suites fill early; our neighbourhoods and accommodation guides compare every option.
A dedicated chauffeur as the baseline, on quotation, anticipated routes and systematic margins: venues are scattered across Manhattan, crosstown journeys are slow and Midtown seizes up at rush hour. On the dense days, a second car is held in relay; between close addresses in SoHo or Tribeca, insiders simply walk — when the February weather allows.
Teterboro, in New Jersey, about 19 km (12 miles) from Midtown: a hub for private and corporate aviation, with no commercial service. JFK and Newark Liberty handle commercial flights. We coordinate the arrival end to end — handling, chauffeur at the steps, luggage and wardrobe delivered to your suite; a helicopter transfer to a Manhattan heliport is arranged by quotation.
No written dress code: the shows are professional events with no regulated attire. But the unwritten codes are powerful — quiet luxury, designer looks, a considered silhouette, a coat that holds its own in February — and arrivals are photographed continuously by street style. Show, dinner and party call for three distinct registers; our dedicated dress code guide decodes them.
Designer parties and after-parties work like the shows: by invitation, with no ticketing, and never promised. Requests are sometimes transmitted where possible, after review of the client's profile. What can be composed freely, on the other hand: your own evenings — a private chef dinner, a reception in a penthouse, a late table. Our dedicated after-parties page maps both registers.
As early as possible: grand hotel suites, experienced chauffeurs, the tables that matter and the stylists in demand book out months before the edition. The highlights — shows, parties — are set later, when the CFDA publishes the calendar a few weeks before opening. For the February 2027 edition, the right moment is now.
