In short

Art Basel Miami Beach is the American edition of Art Basel, the modern and contemporary art fair founded in Basel in 1970 and now owned by the Swiss group MCH Group. It is held every December at the Miami Beach Convention Center. In 2026, the VIP Days take place on Wednesday 2 December, from 4pm, and Thursday 3 December, by VIP card; the public days run from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December, 11am–6pm. Art Basel announces 272 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and territories. Tickets and Premium Passes are sold by the fair, in limited numbers; VIP cards, which are named, are issued by Art Basel and by galleries and cannot be bought. Around the fair, Miami Art Week brings together satellite fairs, museums, private collections, dinners and evenings across the city.

01

What is Art Basel Miami Beach?

Art Basel was founded in Basel in 1970, on the initiative of the city's gallerists. Today it has several editions around the world, including the one in Miami Beach, every December. Planned for 2001 and postponed after the attacks of 11 September, the American edition opened its doors in December 2002. Art Basel belongs to the Swiss group MCH Group, which organises it.

The fair brings together modern and contemporary art galleries from around the world, with particular attention to the Americas: in 2026, Brazil forms the third-largest national delegation, according to Art Basel. People come to look, to meet gallerists, to acquire — and, increasingly, for the whole week that has grown up around it.

It is this week, as much as the aisles of the Convention Center, that a private visitor comes for: the satellite fairs, the museums, the private collections, the dinners and the evenings, against a backdrop of ocean and bay. This guide shows how to compose it.

The 2026 edition at a glance

Art Basel has published the calendar for the 2026 edition and its list of exhibitors. The fair is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, 1901 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach. It opens with two VIP Days, reserved for VIP cardholders, then opens to the public for three days. For this edition, Art Basel announces a show floor reduced by around 12% and four hospitality areas instead of five, for longer sightlines along the aisles.

How is the fair organised?

Exhibitors are divided into sectors. Galleries, the main sector, brings together 204 exhibitors in 2026, and within it Kabinett, more focused presentations inside the booths. Nova welcomes galleries showing recent work, Positions single-artist projects, Survey presentations with a historical dimension. Zero 10, new for the 2026 edition, gathers twenty-two galleries and platforms.

Around the booths, Art Basel offers a talks programme, Conversations — including, in 2026, a day devoted to the links between art and sport — and an open-air exhibition in Collins Park, freely accessible, a short walk from the Convention Center.

For a private visit, it comes down to three choices: which days, which sectors first, and at what pace. A well-composed fair day leaves time to return to a booth, to have lunch away from the bustle and to keep some energy for the evening.

Miami Art Week: what happens around the fair

Since Art Basel arrived, a whole week has grown up around it. Satellite fairs open at the same time: Design Miami, devoted to collectible design, from 1 to 6 December 2026 in Miami Beach; Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami, on the bayfront in downtown Miami, with a preview on 1 December and then public opening until the 6th; and others, such as NADA or Untitled Art, each of which publishes its own dates.

Add to these the museums and private collections — The Bass in Miami Beach, the Pérez Art Museum Miami, ICA Miami in the Design District, the Rubell Museum in Allapattah, cited for illustration — the murals of Wynwood, and a second programme, that of the galleries, brands and collectors: dinners, receptions, evenings on the beach. These gatherings are usually by invitation. Our guide What to Do During Miami Art Week? maps them out.

Planning your stay: accommodation, journeys, budget

Accommodation first: during the week, Miami Beach suites are booked months in advance, often with a minimum stay, quoted according to the address, the category and the length of stay. South Beach puts the fair a few minutes away; Mid-Beach, Surfside and Bal Harbour offer more calm; a private villa on the islands of the bay allows you to entertain. Our guide Where to Stay During Art Basel Miami Beach? compares the neighbourhoods one by one.

Journeys next: Miami Beach is a barrier island, linked to the mainland by a handful of causeways which the week saturates at peak hours. Arriving at Miami International or, by private jet, at Opa-locka or Fort Lauderdale; having a dedicated chauffeur; grouping appointments by shore: our guide How to Get to Art Basel Miami Beach? explains how it works. And finally the budget: it is set on a bespoke quote, element by element — address, length of stay, flights, chauffeurs, evenings, size of party.

And one rule that applies throughout: everything that matters is booked early. For December 2026, the autumn is the right window; a few weeks before the fair, you work with what remains.

What to remember

Art Basel Miami Beach is held at the Miami Beach Convention Center: VIP Days on 2 and 3 December 2026, by VIP card, public days from 4 to 6 December. Tickets and Premium Passes are sold through the fair's own ticket shop, in limited numbers; VIP cards cannot be bought. The private experience is composed elsewhere and everywhere: satellite fairs, museums, collections, fine tables, evenings through private channels subject to availability, all supported by logistics that take the causeways into account. TGZ Conciergerie, an independent house based in Paris, with no affiliation with Art Basel, MCH Group, the galleries or the satellite fairs, and with no official status, orchestrates the entire stay. Every stay is quoted on request, with availability and conditions confirmed before any commitment.

Frequently asked questions

According to Art Basel, the VIP Days take place on Wednesday 2 December 2026, from 4pm, and Thursday 3 December; the public days run from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026, 11am–6pm, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Art Basel, which belongs to the Swiss group MCH Group. The fair was founded in Basel in 1970; its Miami Beach edition has existed since December 2002. The satellite fairs of Miami Art Week — Design Miami, Art Miami and others — are organised independently of Art Basel.

Yes. The public days, from 4 to 6 December 2026, are open to all ticket holders; tickets are sold by the fair through its online ticket shop, in limited numbers. Art Basel also offers Premium Passes, whose conditions are published by the fair. The VIP Days of 2 and 3 December are reserved for VIP cardholders.

A full day lets you cover the main aisles; two half-days let you return to what caught your eye. Many visitors devote one day to the fair and the rest of the week to the satellite fairs, museums and collections. We compose that rhythm with you.

Early December falls in Miami's dry season: days are generally mild and sunny, evenings pleasant on a terrace. A shower is still possible; a light jacket is usually enough for evenings by the water.

Every stay is quoted on request, because it is composed: a couple spending four nights in a Miami Beach suite with a chauffeur does not call for the same quote as a week in a villa with receptions. What makes the budget vary: the length of stay, the address and category of accommodation, a commercial flight or a private jet, the number of chauffeur days, the evenings, the size of the party and how early you book.

No. TGZ Conciergerie is an independent house, with no affiliation with Art Basel, MCH Group, the exhibiting galleries or the satellite fairs, and with no official status. We compose stays — accommodation, flights, chauffeurs, tables, evenings — and arrange the purchase of tickets in your name where possible, without reselling tickets or promising VIP cards.
