Where to Stay During Frieze London?

The park to the north, the galleries to the south: in Marylebone, Mayfair or St James's, the choice of district decides your days.

Last updated 5 October 2026 · 4 min read

In short

For Frieze London, the right choice depends on your days. Marylebone, south of Regent's Park, puts the fair a few minutes away on foot; The Langham, on Portland Place since 1865, is its historic address, cited for illustration. Mayfair, further south, brings together most of the week's galleries and grand hotels such as Claridge's or The Connaught; St James's, between Piccadilly and the Mall, is organised around its clubs and Old Master galleries, with The Ritz London on Piccadilly. From these two districts, the park is a few minutes away by car. During the week, the sought-after rooms go early, often with a minimum stay. Every stay is quoted on request.

01

The golden rule: choose between the park and the galleries

London has no shortage of rooms, but Frieze Week fills the addresses that matter: those close to the park, and those at the heart of the galleries. The sought-after establishments are often booked from one year to the next; cancellation conditions tighten, and minimum stays are common.

You therefore need to decide early what matters more to you: reaching the fair on foot each morning, or living the week among the galleries and the evening tables. With a chauffeur, the distance between the two is counted in minutes — but London traffic makes it variable at busy hours.

The districts, compared

The table below summarises the options. The hotels are cited for illustration, with no partnership; their availability during the week is checked case by case.

Marylebone: as close as possible to the park

Marylebone stretches south of Regent's Park. Staying in the district lets you reach Frieze London on foot, return to change between two appointments and do without a car for much of the day. The Langham, opened in 1865 at the foot of Portland Place, which runs up towards the park, is its historic address, cited for illustration.

The district keeps a village feel, with its shopping streets and neighbourhood tables. The drawback: it is a little removed from the galleries of Mayfair, which you reach by car or on a pleasant walk.

04

Mayfair: at the heart of the galleries

Mayfair brings together a large share of the city's galleries, many of which hang their exhibitions for Frieze Week, as well as No.9 Cork Street, Frieze's space. It is also the district of grand hotels: Claridge's, on Brook Street, or The Connaught, on the corner of Carlos Place and Mount Street, cited for illustration.

From there, Regent's Park is a few minutes away by car. It is often the right balance for anyone dividing their days between the fairs, the galleries and the dinners, provided you book well in advance.

05

St James's: Old Masters and clubs

Between Piccadilly and the Mall, St James's is the district of clubs, old houses and galleries specialising in Old Masters — a natural extension for anyone who comes first for Frieze Masters. The Ritz London, opened in 1906 on Piccadilly, facing Green Park, is a reference address there, cited for illustration.

The district is quiet in the evening, a few minutes' walk from Mayfair, and a few minutes' drive from the park. A townhouse rented for the week, in Mayfair, St James's or Marylebone, with staff, also allows you to entertain.

When to book, and how

For mid-October, spring is the right window; the addresses in Mayfair and Marylebone often go even earlier. The 2026 edition opens in a few days: we work with what remains, which, in London, often still leaves fine options. Cancellation conditions are stricter during the week: we present them to you before any commitment.

Our method: start from your programme — fairs, galleries, sales, evenings — to choose the district, then the address, then the category. Our guide How to Get to Frieze London? completes this choice, and our guide What to Do During Frieze Week in London? helps you sketch out the week.
