What to Do During Art Monte-Carlo in Monaco?

The fair, its conversations, the city's galleries, the museum, the sea and the dinners: the days surrounding Art Monte-Carlo.

Last updated 6 October 2026 · 4 min read

In short

During Art Monte-Carlo, from 22 to 24 April 2027 at the Grimaldi Forum, you discover some thirty modern and contemporary art galleries, the curated section and the programme conversations. In 2026, Monaco Art Week opened galleries and auction houses at the same time in several districts of the Principality. Add the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, at the Villa Paloma, the Japanese garden next to the fair, the Larvotto promenade, then the dinners, often by invitation, and Monte-Carlo's evenings.

A fair, and an art week around it

Art Monte-Carlo is the centre of gravity of these days, but not their only address. In 2026, Monaco Art Week, under the high patronage of the Sovereign Prince, ran from 27 April to 1 May, in resonance with the fair: galleries, auction houses and players in the art world opened their doors in several districts, with exhibitions, talks and encounters. Its 2027 dates will be published by its organisers.

At the fair: galleries, curated section, conversations

The fair is explored without crowds: some thirty stands, an airy layout. Since 2026, a curated section, entrusted to a guest curator, presents a group exhibition around a theme. You move through it differently from the gallery aisles: more slowly, retracing your steps.

The programme of conversations brings together collectors, curators and art-market professionals; in 2026, a round table presented the season's exhibitions on the Côte d'Azur. We identify with you the sessions that interest you and plan the day around them.

03

The museum and the city's galleries

The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco presents its exhibitions at the Villa Paloma, an early twentieth-century residence on the heights of the Principality, surrounded by a garden; it is a few minutes away by car. Its exhibitions and opening hours are checked for each edition.

Several modern and contemporary art galleries are based in Monaco, and some also exhibit at the fair. During these days, galleries and auction houses sometimes organise visits or receptions reserved for their guests. We request private visits where possible, subject to availability, without any guarantee.

04

The Riviera, half an hour away

The Côte d'Azur has many institutions devoted to modern art, from Nice to the hinterland, several of them linked to artists who lived there. At the end of April, the light is soft and the roads still quiet: half a day on the coast, with lunch, fits naturally between two visits to the fair.

We are happy to compose this detour, with a chauffeur who links museum, lunch and return to Monaco for the fair's opening. The venues are chosen according to their current exhibitions, checked for each edition.

05

Dinners, receptions, evenings

In the evening, the fair takes on another face: gallery dinners for their collectors, private receptions in hotels and villas, terraces facing the harbour. These occasions are generally by invitation. We pass on requests where possible, after reviewing the client's profile, without any guarantee, and tell you early what is realistic.

When no invitation comes, we create the evening: a private salon, a villa rented for entertaining, a table held facing the sea, a chef and a sommelier, discreet security. The fine tables of the Place du Casino and the Riviera are booked early for these days.

06

A typical stay, day by day

An indicative example, to be adapted to the 2027 hours once published: arrival on Wednesday 21 April, helicopter from Nice, dinner on the Place du Casino; on Thursday 22, a morning at the Larvotto, a first visit to the fair in the afternoon; on Friday 23, the Villa Paloma in the morning, a conversation at the fair, a private dinner in a villa; on Saturday 24, a second visit to see a work again, then departure or an extension on the coast. Each day keeps a quiet moment: the sea, the hotel spa, or simply the Japanese garden.
