Opened in January 2015 beside the Polo flagship on Fifth Avenue, The Polo Bar is Ralph Lauren's first New York restaurant. A few steps down lead to a sunken dining room of saddle leather, wood panelling, equestrian paintings and low light, conceived in the spirit of the city's old neighbourhood institutions.
The menu is deliberately straightforward: classic American cooking, the dishes the Lauren family likes to share, served without ceremony. The room's reputation rests on its consistency and on how hard it is to get in; tables go quickly and the house applies its own rules.
