How to Get to the Salone del Mobile in Milan?
Two airports, a direct train from Paris, a fair on the edge of the city: in Milan, logistics matter as much on arrival as in the journeys between Rho and the centre.

To reach Milan from Paris, direct trains link Paris Gare de Lyon to Milano Centrale in about seven hours. By air, Linate, about seven kilometres east of the centre, is linked to the city by the M4 metro line in around fifteen minutes; Malpensa, some fifty kilometres to the north-west, by the Malpensa Express. By private jet, both airports have a business aviation terminal. The fair is held at Fiera Milano, in Rho, to the north-west of the city, served by the red line (M1) of the metro and by Rho Fiera station. A dedicated chauffeur becomes invaluable for moving between Rho, the Fuorisalone quarters and dinners.
Arriving in Milan: train, plane, private jet
From Paris, the direct rail link to Milan, restored in spring 2025, connects Paris Gare de Lyon to Milano Centrale in about seven hours, with French and Italian trains. It is a fine option for those who like to arrive in the centre, without a transfer.
By air, Milan has two main airports. Linate, the city airport, lies about seven kilometres east of the centre, to which the M4 metro line connects it in around fifteen minutes. Malpensa, further away, some fifty kilometres to the north-west, receives more long-haul flights and is reached by the Malpensa Express train or by road.
| Arrival | For whom | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Direct train from Paris (Milano Centrale) | Travellers from Paris and France | About seven hours; arrival in the centre |
| Linate Airport | European flights and private jet | About 7 km from the centre; M4 metro |
| Malpensa Airport | Long-haul flights and private jet | About 49 km; Malpensa Express or road |

By private jet: Linate or Malpensa
Both Milan airports receive business aviation, each with a dedicated terminal, run by the airports' operator. Linate has the advantage of proximity: the centre is a few minutes away by road. Malpensa, further from the centre, is on the other hand closer to Rho.
During Salone week, slots and aircraft parking are in high demand: booking is done early, and we compare aircraft and airfields according to your party, your accommodation and your schedule.
Reaching the fair at Rho
Fiera Milano is in Rho, to the north-west of Milan. The metro takes you there directly: the red line (M1) terminates at Rho Fieramilano station, and Rho Fiera railway station receives regional trains and high-speed services. During opening hours, the trains are full.
A chauffeur often remains the more comfortable route: they drop you as close to the entrance as possible, wait during your visit and bring you back to town at the time you choose. The approaches to the exhibition centre are busy early in the morning and at the end of the day: the route sheet takes this into account, with a fallback to the metro if the traffic comes to a standstill.

Getting around the city during Design Week
In the centre, the Fuorisalone is lived on foot, from one courtyard to the next, and by metro from one quarter to another — from Brera to Tortona, from Isola to Porta Venezia. During the week, taxis are in high demand, especially in the late afternoon and as evenings end.
This is where a dedicated chauffeur changes the week: they move you between quarters, wait outside an opening, take you to dinner and then to the evening, and handle the return, including to the lake. The route sheet is reviewed every morning.
If you are staying on Lake Como
Staying on the lake calls for well-held logistics: a departure time chosen to avoid the busy hours, a chauffeur who knows the lake roads and the access to Rho, and an evening return planned from the morning. The train also links Como to Milan, for those who prefer rail.
We build your week on this principle, around your fair days, the quarters and your dinners. Our guide Where to Stay During the Salone del Mobile in Milan? helps you choose the address; our guide What to Do During Milan Design Week? helps you choose what matters.
